Hotel Tugu Malang in collaboration with Embassy of India, Jawaharlal Nehru Indian Cultural Centre & City of Malang, proudly presents Indian Food Festival, 22 April – 6 Mei 2018

India is a country with rich cultural heritage. This diversity of culture can be seen in its enormous cuisine, in true sense is a combination of the cultures, traditions and influences of different ethnic communities absorbed and assimilated over the centuries.


In India, food is considered as an auspicious entity to preserve culture and connect people other than satisfying hunger and perform body functions. The traditional food of India has been widely appreciated for its fabulous use of herbs and spices and known for its large assortment of dishes that vary from East to West and from North to South.

Traditional Indian foods provide a link to our past and culture. Let’s celebrate the culinary heritage of India with the most loved traditional recipes of India from various zones of the country.

Selection of traditional and authentic Indian dishes will be available during this event on ala-carte style such as: Samosa non-veg (fried appetizer with potatoes, beans and chicken), selections of mouth-watering curries : Yellow Dal Fry (lentil curry soup with onions, chili, cumin and coriander), Lamb Rogan Josh (lamb curry specialty from Kahsmir) and Goan Fish Curry (fish curry Goan style cooked in coconut milk and sour spices) served with side dishes of Zeera Rice (cumin rice), Curd Rice (yogurt rice) and assorted Indian flatbread such as Butter Naan & Garlic Naan.

To balance your taste bud, try the Pineapple Raita (fresh pineapple and pomegranate in yogurt sauce) or Classic Indian Vegetable Salad (cucumber, carrot, tomato, cabbage with mint and coriander dressing) and lastly don’t forget to enjoy the sweet dessert of Gulab Jamun (berry size sour bread in cinnamon syrup) or Gajar Halwa (warm carrot pudding with cashew and raisins), Lassi (Indian style yogurt drink) and Jaljeera ( fresh lemonade with cumin, ginger, coriander, mint and garam masala)
