Mid-Autumn Festival , or also called Mooncake Festival is a celebration of the Thanksgiving that was celebrated by the Chinese community on the fifteenth day of the eighth month on the ancient Chinese calendar .

Being one of the most important celebration in Chinese culture, the festival is always celebrated in a family as a moment of gratitude for the harvest and invoke for good things. Nowadays the Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated by enjoying the mooncake with the whole family , gathering under the moonlight and lit by many lanterns. In the past, lanterns were symbolized as sign of fertility and hope of the sunshine after the winter time. Now it became the symbol of the festival itself and adds the decorative meaning.
