Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Jakarta to celebrate  250 Years of Polish Public Theatre & 130 Anniversary of Witkacy’s Birthday Presents:

An Ironist In Apocalyptic Times – Witkacy’s Photography

Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz or commonly known as Witkacy, it’s a combination of his last and middle names. He was schooled at home and pursued diverse interests to promote creativity in painting, music, photography, literature, science and philosophy. He photographed and painted hundreds of self-portraits, illustrating himself as a buffoon, drug addict, priest, doctor, a madman, and continued to do so on his return to Zakopane in Poland.

Witkacy created plays for the theater that were not easily understood until he died on 1939. The legend of Witkacy does not end there, the Polish Ministry of Culture decided to bring the remains of Witkacy’s artworks and continues introduced his works to the world, and now it present at Tugu Kunstkring Paleis.
