Hotel Tugu Bali and Lombok have been designed to bring back to life the romantic, forgotten tales of Java, Bali, and Lombok, through the vast collection of antiques and artworks of the founder, Anhar Setjadibrata.
The antiques came from all over Indonesia and Asia, but also from Europe as Indonesia was colonized by the Dutch, and many items were taken out from Indonesia and brought to Netherlands by the settlers. Anhar Setjadibrata who has been collecting since the early 1960’s through his travel, family, connection and visit of exhibitions around the world was able to bring back to Indonesia many of those rare pieces…
According to the manuscript, which was found in 1894, known as the Negara Krtagama, there were recorded the ancient Hindu era of Majapahit, reigned through most of the archipelago. In bringing back to life these ancient Hindu times in Lombok before the occupation of the Dutch and the Balinese, Hotel Tugu Lombok surrounds itself with chapters from the romantic epic of the Mahabharata throughout its architecture and antique pieces.
