Tugu Kunstkring Paleis
-proudly presents-
A Live Performance by
Jakarta String Ensemble
featuring
Monarch Orcaellanum Luminare Choir
Serenades in a December Evening

Music has been a part of human life for centuries, and recently it has become the topic of methodical studies on its function as a means to improve human well being. Besides being a natural source of pure entertainment, scientific researchers, as well as the general public, have
come to regard music as a unique instrument that aids and enhances human development. Behavioral and neurogical science experts have acknowledged music as an effective media to improve and even to sustain the human life processes. It cannot be denied that music has the power to create happiness!

The Jakarta String Ensemble is a group of talented and intensely passionate musicians who realize the deep impact of music, and they wish to participate in preserving a number of historic musical works from various composers from around the world. At this time, together with the
Monarch Orcaellanum Lum inare Choir, they are going to perform selected serenades from Vivaldi, Mozart, Elgar plus numbers of works by other accomplished composers, including pieces by some of Indonesia’s musical geniuses.

The intention of this event is rooted in a sincere desire to preserve historic and educational musical works that are both an aesthetic device as well as a bridge of communication between cultures and generations. This much-awaited performance will be unveiled in the evening of 18 December 2013 at Tugu Kunstkring Paleis, an elegant Dutch colonial building in Jakarta which will soon celebrate its 100th anniversary. This historic building is one of several architectural masterpieces that needs to be preserved as one of the cultural centers in the Capital City of the Nation.

Some of the talented minds behind this project include Angela Astri Soemantri, conductor; Prima Muchlisin, concert master; Amadeus Giovani Biga Reka Bagaskara, violinist; Darmawan Susilo, music arranger; and Monty P. Satiadarma, creative director.

This inaugural performance of the Jakarta String Ensemble at the end of the year along with the celebration of Kunstkring’s 100 Year Jubilee as a center of artistic excellence will hopefully motivate a larger community to actively participate in educational activities through music and history. We are so excited about this very special event, and we want to pass some of that enthusiasm onto you! Please get your friends together, and book your tickets NOW! Sponsorship and the support of generous benefactors are also humbly requested. Interested parties, please contact us for more details. This is a not-to-be missed concert!
