Lunar Legends: Celebrating the Wood Snake Year at the Historic Kang Xi Temple

Bali, January 2025 – Hidden within the heart of Hotel Tugu Bali lies the Kang Xi Temple, an extraordinary treasure from 1706, built during the reign of Emperor Kang Xi of China’s Qing Dynasty. Once a centerpiece of devotion and celebration, this ancient temple has been lovingly restored and now serves as the stage for a truly remarkable Lunar New Year celebration on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

This historic space, where every carved detail whispers stories of a bygone era, will come alive with the vibrant energy of a Lion Dance performance—a centuries-old tradition believed to bring prosperity and chase away misfortune. Against the backdrop of glowing lanterns and intricate temple architecture, the rhythmic beats of the drums will usher in the Year of the Wood Snake, a year symbolizing wisdom, transformation, and renewal.

The evening’s highlight is an 8-course familystyle dinner, thoughtfully crafted to honor the significance of each dish in Chinese culture. Guests will begin their culinary journey with Yee Sang Imlek, a colorful salad of tuna, beetroot, pomelo, and crispy shallots, symbolizing abundance and unity. Dishes like the Steamed Whole Garoupa in Ginger Soy, representing wealth and harmony, and the comforting Longevity Noodles with Soy -Glazed Beef & Broccoli, signifying long life, bring layers of meaning to the meal. The feast concludes with a sweet indulgence: Custard Sesame Ball Onde- Onde, served with peach and vanilla ice cream, celebrating joy and prosperity.

Dining in the Kang Xi Temple is an experience unlike any other—a harmonious blend of history, culture, and tradition. Each bite, each story, and each moment resonates with the warmth of togetherness, making this Lunar New Year celebration a night to cherish.
